Sauti Sol is an all-male Afro-fusion band from Kenya whose members met and began singing a capella together while still in high school. After graduating from high school, the four decided to pursue music professionally. Theirs was no easy path to success.

Growing up in a culture where the pursuit of music professionally was not generally encouraged, they persevered and honed their craft until their first single, Lazizi, earned them widespread recognition. Blending traditional Kenyan sounds with pop influences and bringing a fresh sound to the market, Sauti Sol has become one of East Africa’s most celebrated bands.

Sauti Sol has won a number of awards and has toured in Europe and the US, including an invitation to perform at the acclaimed South by Southwest festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, in March 2011. Their first album Mwanzo (Swahili for “beginning”) was released in 2008. Sol Filosofia followed on its heels in 2011.
